Requirements
  • Welder Level I candidates must have 1–3 years of experience or commensurate education from trade school.
  • Welder Level I candidates must be capable of MIG and TIG welding of parts and pipe, though company certification for welding parts under pressure is not yet required.
  • Welder Level I candidates must be able to read and apply Welding Procedure Specifications and read drawings.
  • Welder Level I candidates must have at least 1 year of pipe welding experience for MIG/TIG welding at the 6G position.
  • Welder Level I candidates must be able to work in various physical positions, including standing, kneeling, bending, and reaching.
  • Welder Level I candidates must be able to work in a heavy industrial setting with exposure to heat, cold, humidity, odors, fumes, gases, chemicals, oil, grease, smoke, dust, noise, vibration, elevated platforms, and cramped quarters.
  • Welder Level I candidates must be able to wear the required personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety eyewear, safety footwear, face shield, welding helmet, welding gloves, welding sleeves or jacket, welding apron or chaps, and a respirator if required.
  • Welder Level II candidates must have at least 3–5 years of experience in MIG and TIG welding of pipe or pressure vessels.
  • Welder Level II candidates must have experience and certification in welding according to American Society of Mechanical Engineers standards, including company certification for welding parts under pressure.
  • Welder Level II candidates must be able to read and apply Welding Procedure Specifications and read drawings.
  • Welder Level II candidates must be able to troubleshoot and resolve minor issues related to fitting and welding components.
  • Welder Level III candidates must have at least 5 years of certified experience in MIG and TIG welding of pipe or pressure vessels.
  • Welder Level III candidates must have experience and certification in welding according to American Society of Mechanical Engineers standards.
  • Welder Level III candidates must be able to read and apply Welding Procedure Specifications, read drawings, and teach others to do so.
  • Welder Level III candidates must be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fitting and welding components.
  • Welder Level III candidates must be able to train other welders.
  • Candidates must have close vision, distant vision, color vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and hand-eye coordination.
Responsibilities
  • Follow production orders, prepare parts, and tack and weld components into assemblies.
  • Execute welds according to company procedures and documents while meeting defined quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe and organized working environment.
  • Properly maintain assigned tools and equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain written or electronic records regarding safety, quality, productivity, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping.
  • Adhere to ASME Code safety regulations and applicable procedures.

Wieland has acquired Techni-Cast LLC, a South Gate, California-based centrifugal-casting foundry. Founded in 1954, the family-owned company operates two production sites with around 100 employees and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AS9100 certifications for aerospace suppliers. Techni-Cast offers melting, centrifugal casting, heat treatment and precision machining services. The company's equipment includes CNC machines for tight-tolerance machining and conventional lathes for deburring, enabling delivery of fully processed components for critical applications in demanding markets. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
