  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, construction specifications, and engineering drafting.
  • Proficiency in technical computations, cost estimation, and the use of engineering instruments.
  • Ability to write and interpret technical specifications, plans, and construction documents.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by New York State with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, and two (2) years of experience in design and/or installation of electrical systems and equipment; or Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six (6) years of experience in design and/or installation of electrical systems and equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of public works projects.
  • Prepare engineering plans, cost estimates, and material quantities for improvements.
  • Conduct load studies and recommend upgrades to County electrical services.
  • Act as a resident electrical engineer on construction projects, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Supervise inspections and maintain up-to-date electrical drawings, specifications, and equipment instructions.
  • Investigate and address faulty operations of electrical equipment to ensure proper functionality.
