Requirements
  • An associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • A Child Development Associate certificate or equivalent with three years of experience is required.
  • The candidate must meet city and state licensing agency requirements, including CPR, First Aid, and a TB skin test.
  • The candidate must pass an extensive background check.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, supervise, and carry out a developmentally appropriate early childhood program that considers each child's needs, interests, special needs, talents, learning style and pace, and cultural and socioeconomic background.
  • Prepare and post weekly classroom lesson plans.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and emotionally stable environment for children.
  • Keep classroom and shared areas clean and well-maintained, report maintenance needs, equipment loss, and hazards to the Director, and ensure daily housekeeping duties are completed.
  • Oversee meals and snacks with children and encourage sound nutritional practices.
  • Assist children in developing good personal hygiene habits.
  • Maintain attendance, health checks, USDA records, child assessments, anecdotes, Individualized Education Programs, daily child schedules, activity records, medication administration records, and incident or accident reports.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents through frequent informal communication, periodic notes and verbal communications, and a monthly parent newsletter or calendar.
  • Answer questions and provide positive feedback and instructional information about children's growth and development, and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
  • Maintain punctual hours and notify the Director and center of an impending absence.
  • Cooperate and collaborate with Early Learning Center staff to meet children's needs and follow state regulations.
  • Complete required training programs, conferences, courses, and other professional-growth activities for a minimum of 15 hours and stay current with early childhood education issues.
  • Adapt hours or duties as necessary to maintain proper operation of the center.
  • Follow Kentucky state daycare regulations and Early Learning Center policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of teaching experience.
  • Two years of childcare experience.
