  • Three years of previous teaching experience.
  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License for School Administrator-Principal.
  • Hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to North Carolina requirements.
  • Ability to use office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to ten pounds.
  • Ability to drive automotive equipment.
  • Ability to work in a school environment and come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, and the community.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a member of the school administrative team and assist the principal in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets.
  • Assist with the development of a master schedule and related duty assignments, and assist with student orientation and registration activities.
  • Assist in preparing and managing the school budget and allocations according to local, state, and federal policies and regulations, involving school staff in setting budget priorities.
  • Provide direction to school staff in implementing goals and plans to carry out the total school program.
  • Ensure that school-based staff are aware of Wake County Public Schools board of education policies.
  • Ensure that the school is compatible with the legal, financial, and organizational structure of the school system.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of a school discipline policy consistent with board policy on student rights and state law, as assigned.
  • Ensure that the School Improvement Plan is followed and reviewed throughout the school year, including regular self-assessment and adjustments.
  • Assist with ensuring that instructional objectives for subjects and classrooms are developed, involving faculty and others in developing curricular objectives to meet school program needs.
  • Supervise, observe, and evaluate school staff as directed by the principal according to an annual observation and evaluation schedule.
  • Identify effective teaching and learning strategies and convey their impact to the change process.
  • Maintain records relating to materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for the daily school routine.
  • Attend meetings, professional development, and conferences to stay abreast of current policies and procedures for public schools.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the parent-teacher organization and other community organizations to ensure ongoing two-way communication.
  • Initiate activities that foster parent and community involvement.
  • Design, deliver, and facilitate differentiated professional development opportunities that support school staff growth and improvement, including staff who are new to the field.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Travel both in and outside of Wake County.

  • Experience working in or supporting high-needs schools.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the North Carolina Education Evaluation System for evaluating professional staff.
