Requirements
  • A university degree and an accounting designation, such as a Certified Public Accountant designation or equivalent, are required.
  • At least 10 years of experience is required, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role in a professional services environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills are required.
  • The candidate must be able to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-office environment.
  • Bilingual French and English language ability is required.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management and reconciliation of client trust accounts in compliance with applicable law society rules, regulations, and firm policies.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for trust fund administration, segregation, and reporting.
  • Liaise with auditors, regulators, and clients regarding trust account matters, including responding to trust audits, inquiries, and quarterly and annual reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate trust account operations, reconciliations, and reporting to leadership.
  • Manage daily cash flow, banking relationships, and liquidity to optimize the firm's financial position.
  • Oversee cash forecasting and debt management in accordance with firm policies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and treasury policies and act as a signing officer on all operating accounts.
  • Oversee the management and administration of the firm's bank accounts, banking platforms, and corporate credit card program.
  • Supervise the accounts payable team to ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, expense reports, and payments across all offices.
  • Monitor and improve efficiency, internal controls, and compliance with firm and regulatory requirements.
  • Operate and administer Concur Solutions for reimbursement of expenses to firm members.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities across trust, treasury, and accounts payable operations.
  • Prepare and present reports on trust, treasury, and accounts payable activities to firm leadership and management committees.
  • Collaborate with practice groups and office administrators on finance-related projects and initiatives.
  • Provide client services to lawyers and staff.

  • Experience with legal financial systems such as Aderant, Elite, or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and digital payment platforms.
  • Experience in a national or multi-office law firm environment.
  • Experience in the legal industry.
