Requirements
  • Master of Science degree with math and physics concentration, preferably in Medical Physics.
  • Specialization in clinical radiation, therapeutic physics.
  • Extensive progressively responsible experience in Radiation Oncology, Clinical Physics and Radiation Therapy.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience, either through previous work experience, or clinical Radiation Oncology Residency.
  • ABR eligible at a minimum. If not currently ABR certified, ABR certification will be obtained within 3 years of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Specify and acquire all radiation generating equipment, calibrate the treatment machines and acquire and maintain all dosimetry and health-physics equipment.
  • Review radiation treatment charts and instruct personnel in principles and regulations related to radiation therapy physics, dosimetry and radiation protection.
  • Provide professional medical physics services under indirect supervision; evaluate and interpret medical radiation treatment prescriptions; collaborate with medical providers in design and modification of effective radiation treatments for patients; oversee and monitor treatment plans developed by Dosimetrists; participate in development and execution of equipment monitoring, calibration, and safety surveys.
  • Provide technical assistance in the development of treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy; monitor patients; maintain established policies, procedures, objectives, quality measurement, and safety; perform clinical research as required.
