About Sentry
Bad software is everywhere, and we’re tired of it. Sentry is on a mission to help developers write better software faster, so we can get back to enjoying technology.
With more than $217 million in funding and 85,000 organizations that believe we’re on to something, we’re building performance and error monitoring tools that help companies like Disney, Microsoft, and Atlassian spend less time fixing bugs and more time building products. If you like to selfishly build things that make your digital life better, come help us build the next generation of software monitoring tools.
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced technical community marketing manager who will primarily focus on establishing impactful community programs with the support of developer advocates and technical content. This role will partner closely with advocates to ensure the reach of technical content is growing exponentially through consolidating content into packages for specific audiences or creating alternative forms of content to expand channel reach. In DevRel at Sentry, we focus on identifying the biggest challenges facing developers and identify workflow solutions that ideally include Sentry and Codecov.
The Developer Community Marketing Manager will drive the growth engine of the self-serve Sentry community by extending the reach of all relevant developer content that the Developer Advocates create and prioritize where the technical community engagement should be happening.
The largest benefit of this role is the multiplying effect of what the small group of advocates can do. This role will enable advocates to focus their effort on creating significantly more content, that is extremely relevant to where we want to prioritize our community growth (based on insights this role helps drive) and then syndicate the content in collaborative way with demand gen for sales pipeline, events, and product launches.
Key Outcomes & Objectives:
- Increase audience reach: By end of 6 months, 2x the number of views of all content produced; existing or new
- Increase top channel engagement: By end of 12 months:
- 2x the engagement on at least 10 pieces of content
- 2x the channel subscription of 2 core channels (e.g. YouTube and Sentry Answers)
- Increase rate of newsletter subscription by 30% (more than current YOY rate)
- Establish the engagement metrics that drive a smaller relative percentage increase in signups from organic sources to be defined once baseline set
- By FY’24 year end, increase SDK community installs by 10% in at least 1 priority community
In this role you will

- Create a program to engage with active community members and partners in a strategic way to highlight community members while reaching new audiences.
- Keep track of results/benchmarks and reporting out of community partnerships, deciding which partnerships to deepen/lessen

You’ll love this job if you
- You get excited about growing and maintaining a healthy community of technical people interested in learning together. You can see opportunities to engage developers in a way that is authentic and valuable both to them and the business.

- Are a prolific (and good) writer who understands how to tell a useful and relevant story in 30 words.
- Get excited when you hear that your job is to do ⅓ of each: maintaining healthy communities and community programs, identifying narratives that tie together various pieces of content, and being a project manager across orgs to leverage multiple efforts to have the best impact to community members.
