Requirements
  • One to three years of environmental, health, and safety work experience.
  • A certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, a certificate in Environmental Management through a community college, or a university degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or Environmental Studies.
  • An understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulatory requirements.
  • An understanding of emergency management requirements.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple processes, activities, projects, and emergency response procedures simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and some ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Strong administrative skills, with the ability to maintain and report accurate data.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to exercise good judgment.
  • The ability to work independently while providing support to the team as requested.
  • A car is required for the role.
Responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for environmental and health inquiries and incidents.
  • Provide guidance to team members on environmental and health matters and escalate inquiries where appropriate.
  • Coordinate the implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs, processes, procedures, and resources.
  • Coordinate environmental, health, and safety activities, including attending tenant occupational safety and health committee meetings, attending environmental committee meetings and activities, investigating and resolving incidents, completing equipment and systems registration, developing emergency response procedures, supporting business continuity planning activities, completing and delivering training, completing annual management-system re-registration, managing data and generating reports, and conducting environmental compliance audits.
  • Research environmental, health, and safety matters and provide findings and recommendations.
  • Maintain and assist with creating environmental, health, and safety documentation, including plans, processes, forms, logbooks, and procedures.
  • Create and maintain instruction sheets, checklists, forms, and training materials.
  • Support construction activity teams in Projects and Operations and Maintenance by creating, distributing, verifying, and maintaining work instructions, checklists, and training materials.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and mitigate environmental regulatory issues and health and safety concerns before an incident or service call occurs.
  • Maintain business continuity and emergency management plans and procedures.
  • Participate in field inspections, job observations, health, safety, and environment audits, and other reviews to monitor compliance with environmental and health regulations and identify risks; provide findings and improvement suggestions.
  • Assist with investigating and resolving incidents, including root-cause analysis, probable-cause assessment, and recommendations for resolution.
  • Coordinate corrective and preventive measures.
  • Assist in identifying and analyzing trends and communicate observations and incident-reduction suggestions.
  • Maintain environmental, health, and safety data, including incident and regulatory and process compliance data, in applicable databases and other information-storage systems.
  • Assist in auditing compliance records and other environmental, health, and safety data.
  • Prepare and distribute environmental, health, and safety reports, including incident reports.
Desired Qualifications
  • A strong background in environmental management system development and administration.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and environmental compliance auditing.
  • Experience with database development, programming, and maintenance.
  • An interest in attaining Canadian Registered Safety Professional accreditation from the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals.
  • An interest in attaining Certified Health and Safety Consultant accreditation from the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering.
  • An interest in attaining Physical Security Professional accreditation from ASIS International.
  • An interest in attaining Certified Protection Professional accreditation from ASIS International.
  • An interest in attaining Certified Business Continuity Planner accreditation from the Business Continuity Management Institute.

Veritas Capital to acquire facilities manager BGIS. July 17, 2026 | John McNulty Veritas Capital has agreed to acquire BGIS from CCMP Capital Advisors and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo). BGIS runs and maintains buildings and facilities - offices, data centers, and government, healthcare, and industrial sites - for large public and private organizations, handling the engineering, operations, and technology that keep those properties running, a service known in the industry as technical integrated facilities management (IFM). The company oversees more than 65,000 facilities totaling over 620 million square feet globally with a team of more than 12,000. Gord Hicks continues as chief executive officer and will lead the business with his management team. CCMP and AIMCo had backed BGIS since 2019.
