- Install, operate, administer, and maintain digital and Voice over Internet Protocol telephone switches, transport systems, digital loop carrier systems, private branch exchanges, Ethernet switches, cell sites, central-office power systems, and network-management platforms.
- Provide customer service, troubleshoot issues, educate customers about products and services, provision and de-provision services, and answer customer inquiries.
- Determine cable distribution, run and terminate cabling, place equipment cabinets and racks, complete inter-cabinet wiring, and install associated business-system equipment.
- Install and distribute power equipment, install and provision system programming, locate faults, conduct system testing, perform preventive maintenance, complete database backups, and configure vendor-specific cards and equipment.
- Identify, research, and resolve software and switch issues; monitor digital central offices and associated facilities using interface devices and test equipment.
- Respond to system messages and alarms, determine root causes of network problems, take corrective action, analyze switch performance and system faults, and perform routine testing.
- Maintain technical documentation, office records, drawings, archived printouts, and site logs.
- Interpret and input complex software translation changes for system upgrades, and install, configure, and provision remote and central-office equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain central-office equipment and wiring.
- Install, maintain, and test private-line and special-circuit equipment, digital access cross-connect systems, T-carrier, fiber-optic terminal, and multiplexer equipment.
- Install, align, and maintain line-treatment equipment for data and analog circuits, including central-office and customer-premises equipment such as Ethernet switches, routers, servers, and video teleconferencing equipment.
- Perform line-conditioning and end-to-end testing for data-transport equipment, using test equipment and switch- and system-based testing facilities.
- Coordinate installation activities with customers, departments, and manufacturers; make cross-connect changes and rearrangements on main distribution frames, digital cross-connect panels, and fiber-distribution frames; interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and drawings.
- Monitor the network, resolve customer-service trouble issues, and verify resolution with customers.
- Receive and resolve Tier II support escalations and trouble tickets, manage customer communications through resolution, and isolate, resolve, or escalate issues to Tier III resources.
- Operate the Alaska Network Operations Center and support wireline, wireless, enterprise, internet, and long-distance products and services.
- Engineer, operate, administer, and support operations-support-system/business-support-system equipment and databases.
- Manage operating-system configurations for network equipment and support servers used within the Network Operations Center.
- Install, troubleshoot, and solve problems involving systems, desktops, and equipment used to deliver network services.
- Travel by air, land, or sea to deliver service to customers in remote areas of Alaska.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Alaska has received final approval for over $629 million in federal funding under the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment programme, bringing its total BEAD allocation to more than $1 billion. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration approved the state's proposal to expand high-speed internet access across Alaska.
