Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 3 years of experience in veterinary nursing, including at least 1 year in a surgical referral practice.
  • Previous team management experience, team-building skills, and experience leading and motivating a high-functioning nursing team.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical nursing techniques and procedures.
  • Proficient anaesthesia skills with the ability to monitor patients safely and effectively.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with clients, referring veterinarians, and hospital staff.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee all surgical procedures, ensuring adherence to protocols and standards of care.
  • Lead by example and promote a positive, collaborative work environment, teamwork, and professional growth.
  • Provide expert nursing care during complex surgical procedures, including anaesthesia and monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to facilitate seamless patient care and communication.
  • Participate in staff training and continuing education programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversee all aspects of surgical nursing care and provide leadership to the surgery nursing team.
