Requirements
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Have basic math skills.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Be able to perform routine physical tasks associated with equipment maintenance and repair, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, lifting, and using hand and power tools.
  • Be able to work independently or in team settings as appropriate.
Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance service on trailers while meeting the organization's measured standards for work volume and quality.
  • Repair and rebuild components on 48-foot and 53-foot dry van trailers, including suspension and running gear components, landing gear assemblies and components, wheel components and tires, brake and air components, electrical, lighting and wiring components, rear frame and door components, side, nose and roof components, and interior and floor components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs thoroughly.
  • Maintain a high level of welding and metal fabrication skills.
  • Perform service calls.
  • Wash and fuel equipment when necessary.
  • Road-test vehicles to ensure quality repair services were performed, dependent upon having a commercial driver's license.
  • Proactively assist, guide, and direct junior technicians.
  • Participate in the care and upkeep of the shop, grounds, equipment, and tools.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment that complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and company standards.
  • Record all work and labor on a computer in the EMS system.
  • Work with the Parts Department to ensure necessary materials, parts, service, and shop supplies are maintained at proper quantity levels.
  • Work in compliance with Environmental Protection Agency regulations, Department of Transportation requirements, and company safety requirements.
  • Perform other maintenance duties or assignments when necessary.
