Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in private practice or in-house focusing on enterprise contracting of SaaS, Cloud Computing, and IP Licensing arrangements
  • Experience negotiating contracts with AI or ML issues and complex strategic partnerships or collaborations with enterprises
  • Experience with cross-border transactions and negotiating against counterparties in multiple jurisdictions
  • Familiarity with current or proposed legislation impacting AI/ML systems, including privacy legislation
  • Extensive experience leading legal negotiations on complex commercial arrangements, particularly with AI/ML issues
  • Ability to operate independently, supervise and mentor lawyers, and adapt to the fast-paced nature of technology startups
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and team player skills
  • Analytical mindset and passion for technology law focusing on AI and ML
Responsibilities
  • Lead and support Cohere with all commercial technology matters
  • Provide mentorship and support to other members of Cohere’s legal team
  • Engage with enterprise clients, partners, advisors, and vendors on legal matters
  • Work with internal stakeholders and leaders to resolve legal matters across various functions
  • Build out legal strategy and refine processes related to commercial contracting, customer acquisition, vendor management, and partnerships
  • Implement best practices for legal contracting and contract lifecycle management
  • Provide legal guidance, advice, and education on commercial risks and opportunities
  • Optimize contracting processes to empower company objectives and drive growth
  • Oversee and manage legal contracting, company policies, and procedures
