Requirements
  • Graduate of the Youth Apprenticeship Program (YAP) at Howard University Faculty Practice Plan.
  • High school diploma from a District of Columbia public or charter school.
  • Commitment to obtaining Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification within three (3) years of employment.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Accurately verify and update patient demographic information, insurance coverage, authorizations, referrals, and diagnosis codes using internal systems and insurance portals.
  • Schedule and manage patient appointments, hospital orders, and visit types in accordance with schedule advisor guidelines.
  • Collect and document co-pays and co-insurance, reconcile cash drawers, and ensure accurate financial transactions.
  • Manage incoming correspondence, including sorting faxes and general communications, to support clinic operations.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff on pre-visit planning and audit physician schedules to ensure proper authorization and management of overbooked appointments.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned to ensure smooth clinic operations.
