Requirements
  • Equivalent technical training and related experience may substitute for the preferred degree.
  • At least 3 years of specific project management experience in marine construction or heavy civil projects is required.
  • Technical understanding of the construction and maintenance of marine vessels is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, including the ability to monitor progress to schedule and adhere to strict deadlines, is required.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and the ability to learn new software programs is required.
  • Strong negotiation skills are required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the demonstrated ability to manage and function in a team of varied disciplines, are required.
  • The ability to understand and interpret safety laws and company policies and standards is required.
  • Knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings, specifications, building materials, and required standards is required.
  • OSHA 30 certification is required.
  • 40-Hour EM 385-1-1 certification is required.
  • Primavera P6 certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all aspects of marine construction projects.
  • Take overall responsibility for successful execution of the job within budget, schedule, and job cost.
  • Schedule projects using the Critical Path Method.
  • Develop project plans that meet client requirements and timelines.
  • Forecast budgets and track expenditures.
  • Serve as the primary contact with the client.
  • Identify improvements in systems, safety, and project reporting, including implementing plans that yield more efficient dredging methods.
  • Assist with creation of post-award client submittals and other deliverables.
  • Work with the crewing team to coordinate project logistics, including vessel and crew needs.
  • Oversee procurement of project equipment and consumables.
  • Manage third-party subcontractors and rental companies in conjunction with Site Administrators.
  • Manage mobilization efforts.
  • Oversee required daily reporting.
  • Perform daily quality control of production.
  • Monitor site conditions for change orders or modifications.
  • Drive cost control and manage budget tracking in conjunction with Finance.
  • Provide technical expertise to estimating to assist in proposal preparation.
  • Create cost and production estimates for bids.
  • Track project milestones.
  • Identify potential conflicts or delays in the project timeline and work to resolve them.
  • Manage resources needed to successfully complete the project.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Create and improve standard operating procedures.
  • Lead and mentor other staff and new marine staff by providing training and coaching on administrative duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to operate small marine vessels.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Hypack, and/or other survey software.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
