Daya raises $2.4M pre-seed to build stablecoin payment rails for African businesses

Daya, an African stablecoin payments startup, has raised $2.4 million in pre-seed funding led by Hivemind Capital, with participation from Lattice, Alliance, Globelink and Aptos Foundation. Founded in 2025 by Aleph Lasebikan and Paul Joe, former operators at Microsoft, Circle and YC-backed Helicarrier, Daya is building a financial operating layer for African businesses to manage cross-border payments. The platform enables users to collect funds in local currencies, convert them using stablecoin rails and settle globally. Daya targets businesses, freelancers and companies making regular international payments or paying suppliers across borders. The funding will support infrastructure development to reduce the cost and complexity of moving money across African and global markets.

Receipts Depositary Corporation raises $7M to modernise depositary receipts for digital assets

Receipts Depositary Corporation (RDC), the first depositary able to issue depositary receipts on digital and alternative assets, has raised $7 million in an oversubscribed funding round led by LiveOak Ventures. Strategic investors including Hivemind Capital, Onigiri Capital, OTC Markets Group, GTS and Redbeard Ventures participated. The Houston-based company provides issuer services and infrastructure to bring depositary receipt products to US investors across various asset classes, from commodities to digital assets. Founded by a team with over a decade of experience in the depositary receipt business, RDC connects asset issuers with US capital markets through regulated, securities market-eligible instruments. The funding will support new product launches, expand market distribution capabilities, invest in capital markets infrastructure and enable strategic hiring across the organisation.

Also in the United States, ARX secured $6.1 million in seed funding from Castle Island Ventures, marking another strong early-stage investment in the crypto infrastructure space. Meanwhile, KWARXS (stylized as KWARKS) received a $250,000 grant from Project Catalyst, aimed at advancing blockchain research and decentralized application development. In one of the week's largest announcements, Ripple revealed a $500 million venture round, backed by a consortium of major financial firms including Brevan Howard Asset Management, Citadel Securities, Fortress Investment Group, Galaxy Digital, Marshall Wace, and Pantera Capital. The funding underscores continued institutional interest in blockchain-based payment infrastructure.
