About the Mechanic Group:
A leading specialty managing general insurance agency writing program business for the security guard, investigative and alarm/electronic security industry. We are a well-known best-in-class underwriting / program management intermediary that has exclusive underwriting authority with our partner carriers. Our specialty insurance products are distributed through retail insurance agents and brokers.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Lead this well-established program, with oversight of all aspects of the business. Oversight would include business production, underwriting profitability, claims, carrier relationships, technology, performance reporting and staffing of a large, industry leading program This entails the following:
Working with our carrier partners to ensure underwriting governance and profitability for all lines of business. This includes regular review of loss data, rate change, renewal retention, adherence to underwriting guidelines, policy form changes and new business production. Within SPG, this would require regular contact with finance, actuarial & claims.
Managing an office of currently thirteen employees consisting of eight underwriters, one assistant underwriter, two claims administrators and one administrative assistant.
Managing broker distribution and key strategic relationships across the country.
Working with the carrier claims dept and TPA on more complex claims and identifying new claim trends.
Working with and reporting to SPG management on budget status, revenue forecasting, underwriting results (premium/retention/rate/strategy) and profitability of the program. This requires gaining proficiency with our proprietary rating/reporting software and agency management system.
Achieve underwriting profitability, premium volume targets and budgeted revenue goals.
Working with internal SPG communications and marketing resources to expand our reach and provide continuous advertising throughout the industry as well as reinforcing our identity as market leaders within the security guard, investigative and alarm/electronic security industry.
Develop new insurance products or coverage enhancements for the security guard, investigative and alarm/electronic security industries. In addition, drive additional revenue by finding new programs that can be launched or acquired.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of insurance underwriting experience
- 10+ years leadership/management experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Disclosure required under applicable state or municipality regulations: The expected salary range for this position is $225,000 to $250,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
