Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • A Professional Engineer license is required, or the candidate must be able to obtain one in any state in the United States.
  • Five to fifteen years of relevant mechanical design and/or energy-related experience is required.
  • A thorough understanding of air-side, hydronic, steam, and building automation control systems as they pertain to HVAC and central plant systems is required.
  • Working knowledge of ASHRAE design and energy standards and building codes is required.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary professional engineering firm involved in producing contract drawings for the construction industry is required.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently with minimal oversight and coordinate detailed work with other building-system disciplines.
  • The candidate must be able to take mechanical concepts through implementation.
  • The candidate must be capable of working safely at job sites around large mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Experience with Revit 3D or a similar tool and AutoCAD is required.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver's license.
  • The candidate must be able to travel locally in New England and occasionally along the East Coast of the United States for project meetings and site investigations.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare engineering and design documentation for new and renovation projects across private, public, federal, and municipal facility sectors.
  • Conduct field investigations of existing facilities.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Generate reports and produce contract drawings.
  • Perform HVAC and energy calculations compliant with local regulations, including building-load and pump-sizing calculations and energy computer modeling using Carrier HAP or a similar tool.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary personnel in local and regional offices, subconsultants, utility companies, equipment vendors, and clients.
  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and direct and oversee junior staff work on those projects.
