  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems/Management, or related field; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 10+ years of progressive related experience developing cross domain technical strategies, managing complex technology transformation initiatives, and delivering results within a large-scale technology environment.
  • 6+ years leading hands-on development and oversight of domain architecture and design for large scale enterprise or business applications.
  • Deep understanding of IT architecture, best practices, and methodologies in specialized technology focus areas.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to the Chief Technology Officer ensuring the strategic technical direction of specialized technology focus areas are strategically aligned to the technological solutions and business objectives.
  • Provides consultation and influences a team of architects for consistent Company Platform architectural approaches across portfolio Principal Architects while collaborating alongside senior leadership, engineers, and technologists.
  • Develops and provides counsel on the execution of the IT strategy for specialized technology focus areas.
  • Establishes and communicates strategies to senior leadership, industry partners and business stakeholders; leveraging technical and business expertise to influence, guide, and craft business strategy and decision-making at the highest interpersonal levels.
  • Delivers designs, ideas, governance processes and structures to an Architecture Review Board and to executive technology and business leadership.
  • Providing consultation, design input, technical direction, and feedback for consistent Company Platform architectural approaches across portfolio Principal Architects and senior engineering leadership.
  • Designs and develops enterprise-wide technology solution strategies that support product requirements, operational efficiency, and innovation.
  • Provides technical mentorship and expertise to drive integration of new technologies and applications into the existing IT infrastructure ensuring they are scalable, secure, and adaptable in the technology focus areas.
  • Ensures the quality and performance of specialized technology focus area through reviews, audits, and continuous improvements.
  • Creates and maintains detailed architecture documentation to aid in communication and decision making that leverages the specialized technology focus area.
  • Designs the methodologies and processes associated with reusing and extending IT architectures in the specialized technology focus area.
  • Responsible for designing the platforms and ecosystems that drive the use of the IT architecture in the specialized technology focus area. Matures USAA’s technical brand and industry position in technology by contributing to external technical communities where the specialized technology focus area is relevant.
  • Stays current with emerging technology trends and identifying opportunities to leverage enhanced technologies, tools and solutions for the organization in the specialized technology focus areas.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience architecting complex Cyber Security and Identity and Access Management ecosystems for a large financial services organization.
  • Proven track record of Designing and Architecting highly resilient and compliant IAM platforms for all types of identities such as workforce, member, system and workload, and 3P.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in multiple Cyber Security domains with a deep understanding of Application Security and IAM principles, technologies, and protocols such as OAuth, OpenID, LDAP, and Kerberos.
  • Deep understanding of the organization’s infrastructure, network and applications to develop comprehensive security architecture.
  • Experience building strategic security architecture roadmaps and direction for enterprise-wide, transformational, technology imperatives.
  • Experience acting as trusted advisor to the senior technology and business leaders in Cyber Security and Identity and Access Management.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment with several areas of the organization to move large strategies forward.
  • Forward looking thought leader who can help balance practicality with cutting edge innovation, deliver cost efficient solutions to solve real world problems.
