Requirements
  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in process controls is required
  • Ability to obtain a Electrical Engineering (EE) Professional Engineering License
  • Experience with heater controls
  • Experience creating electrical and controls schematics is a plus
  • Knowledge of industrial protocols is a plus
  • Knowledge of industrial networking is a plus
  • Experience with controller programming is a plus
  • Understanding of technical fundamentals of sensors for measuring: temperature, pressure, flow, force, torque, displacement, fluid flow, pressure, temperature, motor position, motor speed, etc.
  • CAD experience preferred (AutoCad is a bonus)
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team
  • Ability to problem solve quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
  • Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges, and issues
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others
Responsibilities
  • Ability to read and interpret Process Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Coordinate process controls design with process engineers
  • Document process controls narratives
  • Form Instrument and IO lists based on P&ID’s using smart plant systems
  • Design heater controls for large scale facilities
  • Heater sizing analysis for controllability
  • Specify instrumentation for process controls
  • Communicate with suppliers for instrumentation procurement
  • Design optimal control strategies including and not limited to model predictive control
  • Work through different stages of controls from concept to design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and testing
  • Programming may be required from time to time
  • Perform and supervise installation and test of instrumentation and controls systems
  • Provide technical leadership on complex instrumentation projects that bridge multiple engineering disciplines
  • Interpret technical challenges related to Engineering Test and recommend solutions and best practices
  • Solve complex problems using a broad perspective to identify solutions
  • Guide others in resolving complex issues regarding data acquisition, instrumentation, and control of industrial processes
  • Maintain a personal focus to execute on Process Instrumentation and Controls
  • Other duties as assigned
