Requirements
  • A minimum of five years of accounting or bookkeeping experience is required.
  • Experience in a title, legal, or real estate field is a plus.
  • Strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.
  • Proficiency with computer software systems, especially Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel, is required.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and use new software systems is required.
  • Candidates must live within a commutable distance of Hoboken, New Jersey.
  • Employees must be able to interact effectively and professionally with management, employees, and customers through Microsoft Outlook email, telephone, Microsoft Teams, video calls, and in person.
Responsibilities
  • Support the closing process by entering accounting data into RamQuest or other designated software, coding entries, and ensuring data matches the actual transactions per bank records.
  • Access bank accounts electronically to check balances and transaction status, confirm deposits, set up wires, set up and print checks, and provide outgoing wire confirmations.
  • Confirm payment instructions for payables, including verifying wire instructions according to company best practices, and obtain required approvals for jumbo and international wires.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Review and comply with closing instructions from lenders, purchasers, sellers, and other transaction parties.
  • Coordinate with the Recording team regarding taxes and recording fees required to record closing documents.
  • Communicate with internal transaction parties regarding receipt of funds, obtain authorization to break escrow, close, and disburse, and provide closing notifications and wire confirmations or check copies after closing.
  • Conduct post-closing file reviews to ensure all disbursements are complete and checks are sent to the correct party and address.
  • Assist with daily and monthly reconciliation reports and coordinate compliance standards with the corporate accounting department.
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, completeness, and operating compliance of work products for assigned projects.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities offered or assigned by Old Republic Title Corporate.
