Requirements
  • A Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of one year of previous experience in a customer or member service role is required.
  • Additional experience and/or development from the Member Services Representative position is required.
  • Demonstrated desire to serve others in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Ability to identify and willingness to act upon sales and service opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform well under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize using sound judgment to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Knowledge of Access Credit Union’s products and services.
  • Ability to follow standardized policies and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of risk management within the financial industry.
  • Proficient computer skills.
Responsibilities
  • Process over-the-counter financial services, including deposits, withdrawals, loans and utility payments, money orders, credit card advances, foreign and domestic exchange calculations, and cheque cashing.
  • Balance transactions, including ATM transactions, night deposits, and the cash drawer, on a daily basis.
  • Resolve routine problems with member accounts and deposit instruments referred by members and branch staff.
  • Adhere to security procedures, safeguard cash and negotiable items, and prevent fraudulent transactions.
  • Meet requirements for balancing, unlocated outages, high-risk errors, and daily work audits within designated timelines and targets.
  • Respond proactively to member inquiries in person, by branch phone, and by email.
  • Use knowledge of members’ financial situations to position the value of products and services effectively.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to credit union policies and procedures concerning risk management, confidentiality, security, and fraud prevention.
  • Differentiate between credit union and competitor products and services based on member needs.
  • Communicate product and service information using an advice-based approach to secure sales of Access Credit Union products and services.
  • Use fact-finding questions and techniques to overcome business objections and ask for the sale.
  • Cross-sell credit union products, solicit new members, and foster business development through service excellence and product knowledge.
  • Maintain current knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, and relevant legislation by reviewing literature and attending update meetings.
  • Maintain open communication and cooperation with other staff to support a friendly and efficient work environment.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve organizational and department objectives.
  • Participate in meetings, planning, and training initiatives, sharing information and ideas.
  • Look for referral opportunities for lending and wealth teams.
  • Seek new business and referral opportunities that support branch and organizational goals.
  • Work to retain and expand existing member relationships while pursuing new sources of business.
  • Act as a credit union ambassador through visible professional and personal involvement in community groups and activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Business Administration or other post-secondary education would be considered an asset.
