Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to obtain ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I Certification within 9 months of the start date.
  • Ability to maintain data integrity and perform computer data input.
  • Ability to work independently and adhere quickly to safety requirements.
  • Ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Ability to work near, around, or on light or heavy equipment.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift objects of various dimensions weighing up to 100 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, balance, bend, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects, reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing, walking, or sitting.
  • Ability to tolerate all environmental temperatures and weather conditions and repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain samples and perform necessary tests on concrete and aggregate products according to ASTM and Oklahoma Department of Transportation standards.
  • Prepare product samples for customers and testing laboratories and deliver them to ensure safe arrival.
  • Record and maintain test data and other required information in written records and on a personal computer.
  • Perform housekeeping functions in the laboratory area.
  • Perform daily maintenance on laboratory and testing equipment.
  • Work safely and take action to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  • Assist mixer drivers in determining the quality and consistency of concrete.
  • Conduct compressive strength testing on concrete cylinders.
  • Develop basic knowledge of moisture control in concrete mixtures.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the types, applications, and dosages of concrete admixtures.
  • Perform physical-properties testing on coarse and fine aggregates according to ASTM and/or Oklahoma Department of Transportation specifications.
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location.
  • Perform other duties related to the nature of the job as assigned on a temporary or permanent basis.
