Requirements
  • Completion of an electrical construction apprentice program, a valid state electrician license or certification, four years of field experience as a journeyman electrician, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Solid understanding of the electrical construction industry, including electrical codes and installation methods.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to present information and respond to questions from the foreman and crew.
  • Understanding of the basic laws of electricity and electrical systems.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, prioritize, organize, anticipate future issues, and analyze and resolve problems quickly.
  • Ability to read technical instructions and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics and use electrical formulas.
  • Ability to see details and compare details in objects.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use industry tools and equipment productively and safely.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Ability to visualize and sketch an electrical layout.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds from the ground and pull 50 pounds of force.
  • Ability to climb ladders, pull wire and conduit, squat, stoop, or kneel while wearing a 25-pound tool belt, stand for long periods while performing repetitive actions, and work from ladders, man lifts, or reach booms.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor installations to ensure work complies with Company standards and the contract.
  • Work with the foreman to manage portions of the project and employees.
  • Support productivity, safety, quality control, scheduling, material procurement, and other activities affecting successful project completion.
  • Understand the assigned portion of the project thoroughly.
  • Communicate with the foreman and crew.
  • Ensure all work complies with National Electrical Code, federal, state, county, and local codes.
  • Ensure required materials are on site and verify that ordered materials were received.
  • Manage the crew and personal time to ensure productivity.
  • Establish performance and quality standards.
  • Establish project goals and monitor progress toward those goals.
  • Use the prefab shop to the fullest extent.
  • Anticipate potential problems and take action before they occur.
  • Ensure the crew starts on time each day.
  • Maintain legally required 10-minute rest breaks and 30-minute lunch breaks.
  • Maintain complete and accurate as-built documentation on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Understand and implement Bergelectric’s Employee Handbook.
  • Implement Bergelectric’s safety policies and procedures and ensure a safe work environment for all personnel.
