Requirements
  • At least 5 years of payer care contracting experience on behalf of providers is required; payer experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to quickly assess and communicate a provider's value relative to its competitors from a payer's perspective.
  • Proficiency in contracting analytics, including using reimbursement data to inform decisions.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and engaged listening.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills.
  • Ability to advocate on behalf of clients' best interests.
  • Comfort owning the room and running a call.
  • Ability to value diverse experiences and perspectives.
  • Desire to learn and enthusiasm for working with a variety of clients and improving their businesses.
Responsibilities
  • Lead client teams and own all aspects of client engagements, including payer prioritization and strategy, creation of marketing materials, management of the outreach process, and language and rate negotiations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact within Tribunus for selected clients.
  • Customize services to meet client needs and preferences within the scope of the engagement.
  • Make data- and expertise-based recommendations to clients and integrate client feedback into engagement strategy.
  • Prepare contract summaries at the conclusion of negotiations so clients can operationalize agreements.
  • Prepare executive summaries for distribution to contracting personnel within targeted managed care organizations.
  • Update internal tracking systems with completed work, descriptions, and time spent in client-facing capacity in accordance with company policy.
  • Analyze clients' current contracts, historical reimbursement rates, contract language, and price transparency data.
  • Identify payer negotiation targets and locate payer contact information using internet research, internal resources, and company databases.
  • Develop contracting strategies based on competitive position, historical contracts, and growth trajectory.
  • Analyze outbound contract proposals and incoming offers and develop counterproposals.
  • Contact appropriate personnel at payer organizations to secure new in-network contract offers or renegotiate legacy agreements.
  • Position clients effectively within their specialty and relative to local market conditions.
  • Negotiate client agreements, including rates and business or operational language, through execution.
