Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Catbird opened Seattle in April 2026 and plans Dallas for November 2026.
  • The Cinema Lab Grown Diamond Collection broadened sales beyond bridal in October 2025.
  • National expansion reached Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, proving demand outside Brooklyn.

What critics are saying

  • Lab-grown diamonds commoditize fast, squeezing Catbird's margins and diluting premium positioning by 2026.
  • Rapid expansion to Dallas, Seattle, and Chicago strains staffing, inventory, and brand consistency.
  • If mall and boutique traffic weakens, Catbird's store-heavy model loses its main growth engine.

What makes Catbird unique

  • Catbird built the Forever Bracelet category in Brooklyn, defining permanent jewelry since 2017.
  • Over 95% of diamonds are recycled, anchoring Catbird's sustainability story.
  • Celebrity demand from Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter gives Catbird cultural cachet.
