Greenvolt is a pan-European independent power producer and renewable energy developer focused on three pillars: sustainable biomass, utility-scale wind and solar projects, and distributed generation. It manages the full lifecycle of green energy assets—from development and construction to operation and strategic asset rotation—across multiple geographies. Its products come from electricity generation tied to long-term power purchase agreements, with revenue also derived from the strategic sale of mature renewable assets. The company is expanding into battery energy storage to enhance grid flexibility. Greenvolt distinguishes itself through strong execution capabilities, deep technical expertise, and a growing project pipeline supported by solid institutional backing. Its goal is to accelerate the global energy transition by enabling large-scale renewable developments and decentralized self-consumption, improving grid reliability, and helping customers reduce their carbon footprints.

What believers are saying

  • KKR fully subscribed Greenvolt's €150 million capital increase, with €50 million added September 2026.
  • July 2026 refinancing raised the revolving facility to €472.5 million and pushed maturity to July 2029.
  • Greenvolt Power signed BYD for Poland's 600 MW/2.4 GWh Siedlce BESS, starting Q3 2026.

What critics are saying

  • Greenvolt's 2025 biomass shutdowns at Tilbury and Figueira da Foz exposed fragile legacy cash flows.
  • Poland's 600 MW Siedlce BESS starts construction in Q3 2026, delaying revenue until end-2027.
  • A failed BESS buildout would strand Greenvolt's 12.8 GW pipeline and stall asset rotation.

What makes Greenvolt unique

  • Greenvolt runs biomass, utility-scale, and distributed generation, unlike single-vertical rivals.
  • In June 2026, its Hungary BESS became the country's largest operational storage asset.
  • As of July 2026, Greenvolt's utility-scale pipeline reached 12.8 GW across Europe.
