Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required
  • Not eligible for sponsorship
  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic knowledge in the use of Building Information Modeling software
  • Knowledge of industry standard engineering software including HVAC load calculation software
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics as it relates to mechanical systems design for buildings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Education and experience requirements include internship or building design consulting industry experience preferred
  • Experience or exposure to design analysis of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems is implied by responsibilities
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and analysis of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, plumbing and fire protection systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively
  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
  • Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects
  • Assist in project planning and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives
  • Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress
  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions
  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering
  • Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work; Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
Desired Qualifications
  • Internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
  • Engineer-In-Training certification preferred
