Requirements
  • Significant experience handling high-value motor bodily injury claims, ideally up to £500,000.
  • Excellent knowledge of indemnity principles, insurance contracts, road traffic accident matters, Motor Insurers’ Bureau Articles of Association including Article 75, bodily injury legislation, protocols, and frameworks including the Civil Procedure Rules, Judicial College Guidelines, Consumer Duty, Ministry of Justice, Official Injury Claim, and the Intermediate Track.
  • Experience coaching and/or mentoring colleagues, reviewing high-value files, and providing supportive, development-focused feedback.
  • Strong complaints-handling knowledge and experience, with the ability to resolve issues effectively and in line with regulatory expectations.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Head of Large Loss to define and implement the technical strategy across the unit responsible for managing claims up to £250,000.
  • Lead the design and implementation of a structured development pathway to enhance the technical capability, confidence, and progression of high-value injury handlers across the department.
  • Support colleagues through technical coaching and guidance, helping them build confidence and capability in handling complex bodily injury claims and serving as the primary technical referral point for senior handlers.
  • Work with specialist, frontline colleagues and leaders to improve the assessment, management, and resolution of high-value cases, identify efficiency opportunities, reduce indemnity spend, and strengthen decision-making using audit insights and market developments.
  • Monitor and interpret changes across the bodily injury landscape, including the Civil Procedure Rules, Judicial College Guidelines, Consumer Duty, Ministry of Justice, Official Injury Claim, and the Intermediate Track, and ensure teams understand and adapt to emerging requirements.
  • Help shape technical standards, quality controls, and governance frameworks so bodily injury handling remains compliant, consistent, and commercially strong.
  • Deliver and/or facilitate training sessions for colleagues at company sites.
