As a Senior Prototype Fabricator at Zoox, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering prototype parts and vehicles. You will work with internal clients from Vehicle Development, Compute/Firmware, Advanced Hardware Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering alongside your teammates to deliver first-of-a-kind parts and prototypes. You will be a hands-on contributor; building prototypes with core fabrication skills like: MIG welding, TIG welding, Press Brake, Sheet Metal Forming, Manual Mill, Manual Lathe, Fixturing, CNC Plasma, Waterjet, and Acrylic Laser cutting. Projects can be as small as urgent walk-in requests to multi-week, month, and quarter vehicle build projects.
In this role, you will:
- Work closely with Zoox Engineering teams
- Operate equipment including Mill, Lathe, Water Jet, Shear, and Press Brake
- Produce high-quality parts
- Manage prototype projects
- Read and interpret blueprints/drawings
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience as a professional fabricator
- Experience with MIG/TIG Welding
- Ability to read blueprints/CAD drawings
- Experience working in a prototyping environment
- Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently
Bonus Qualifications
- Knowledge of JIRA, Solidworks, CATIA, GD&T
- Knowledge of advanced, less common prototyping techniques including composites fabrication, prototype injection molding, robotic welding, etc. is a plus
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $40/hr - $70/hr. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate’s relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
