Requirements
  • Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Inventory Control Manager, leads/oversees a dock staff of 10-17 union employees. Work with the management staff to meet CDC standards for all stock related activities. Establish, implement and report on the plan for increasing capacity and optimizing the use of the warehouses.
  • With the guidance of the Inventory Control Manager, work independently on reporting statistics and completion rates of the various projects within the department, utilizing spreadsheets and PowerPoint. Will also assist the Inventory Control Manager on client-based needs through emails and platforms such as Salesforce.
  • Train new employees, monitor their performance and work on assigned projects including implementation of new methods and technology to improve performance; primarily with the WMS and RF scanner programs.
  • Update, establish and enforce written work guidelines and procedures in collaboration with peer managers.
  • Work closely with the manager of the department on maintaining and reviewing budget goals for the year.
  • Work closely with other departmental managers and senior staff to maintain even workflow between the various departments.
  • Tracks and influences correspondence with the Chicago Distribution Center regarding inventory matters and best practices. Coordinates with staff of client presses to achieve inventory goals. Responds to inquiries and proactively researches and resolves inventory issues.
  • Acts as a liaison with file storage services for campus offices and the inventory reduction program. Coordinates local deliveries of stock and arranges for storage of sensitive files.
  • Performs other related work assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • High School diploma.
  • College degree.
  • Experience in warehouse environment.
  • Experience supervising or managing a team is strongly desired.
  • Forklift experience and certification. Drexel Swing Mast preferred to work down narrow aisles, side load and working heights of 25ft or higher.
  • Able to operate most types of equipment (e.g. pallet jacks, and stock pickers).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to establish priorities and exercise sound judgment.
  • Meet deadlines.
  • Interact with colleagues in a collaborative and professional manner.
