Requirements
- Certification for Medical Assisting or Licensed Practical Nurse REQUIRED
- Knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorization, and medical billing processes
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-first mindset
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems
Responsibilities
- Schedule surgeries in coordination with provider, surgery centers, and hospitals
- Arrange and confirm pre-operative and post-operative appointments for patients
- Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies for surgeries and procedures
- Communicate with patients regarding surgery details, preparation instructions, and follow-up care
- Pre-collect surgery-related payments and ensure accurate documentation of financial transactions
- Maintain up-to-date records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure all pre-op requirements (labs, imaging, clearances) are completed
- Answer patient inquiries and provide support with empathy and professionalism
- Assist providers with general medical assistant duties as needed (rooming patients, vitals, charting, etc.)
- Assist with front office duties as needed
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and practice policies in all patient and insurance interactions
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in OB/GYN, fertility, or surgical scheduling strongly preferred
