Requirements
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 4 years of hotel sales experience.
  • Knowledge of general sales techniques, yield management, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to hear, speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • 12th-grade-level mathematics, spelling, and reading skills, along with effective business writing skills.
  • Dexterity and mobility to meet clients on and off premises, tour the property, attend functions, climb stairs, and operate basic office equipment.
  • Vision to read fine print and computer screens, see colors, and observe rooms in poorly lit conditions.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work on more than one task at a time.
  • Ability to develop strong internal and customer relationships.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities and plan activities in advance.
  • Ability to solve problems and make sound business decisions.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid state driver's license to make sales calls.
Responsibilities
  • Lead sales and marketing for The Ann Savannah.
  • Achieve a minimum of 90% of productivity goals and 100% of activity goals established by management.
  • Target appointment-oriented sales calls in accordance with department budgets and marketing plans.
  • Maximize current hotel key accounts by identifying and capturing accounts that offer revenue growth.
  • Capture competitor accounts through networking, research, and reader board surveys to target and solicit prospective new business.
  • Plan and implement an ongoing Targeted Account Development hit list to create new revenue and acquire valuable hotel contacts and contracts.
  • Continually target and prospect for new business through telemarketing, individual creativity, and innovation.
  • Use yield management techniques to negotiate room rates and function-space commitments profitably and enhance the hotel's financial performance.
  • Maintain a well-documented, accurate, organized, and current file-management system to service clients and the employer efficiently.
  • Develop strong customer relations through frequent communication and professional, courteous, and ethical interpersonal interaction.
  • Develop customer profiles and maintain an effective trace system, including trace dates and references, to meet client needs and improve account service and revenue.
  • Follow up promptly on all customer needs and inquiries.
  • Conduct research, surveys, personal investigations, and marketplace and territory studies to capitalize on the hotel's strengths and competitors' weaknesses and capabilities.
  • Dedicate a minimum of 90% of work time to direct sales efforts.
  • Control travel expenses incurred on the property's behalf to minimize hotel costs.
  • Represent the employee, hotel, and Sage Hospitality Resources with integrity.
  • Maintain a service-focused approach, caring attitude, positive team attitude, open communication with hotel departments and coworkers, and a neat, clean, businesslike appearance.
  • Perform other duties assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
  • Supervise 2–10 associates.

Sage will oversee daily operations of the property, originally constructed in 1906 as a Masonic Temple, including management of the hotel’s restaurant and rooftop bar.
