Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Go-To-Market teams to ensure appropriate engineering support and delivery for government customers
  • Lead and mentor a team of FDEs, guiding them from ideation to implementation, and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
  • Organize and lead Agile ceremonies for the software engineering team, ensuring efficient project execution and alignment with business goals
  • Establish coding and testing best practices and standards for engineers, driving excellence in software development
  • Take charge of developing, testing, and deploying modern software applications and new features, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines
  • Oversee the quality of engineers' deliverables, including coding, testing, and debugging, to maintain high standards of software quality
  • Collaborate closely with Air's product team to translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring the successful delivery of software solutions
  • Continuously seek innovation and process improvement opportunities, finding efficiencies in all assigned tasks to drive the team's success
  • Work collaboratively with data engineers, data scientists, QA engineers, and DevOps engineers to enhance our platform's overall quality and performance
Desired Qualifications

Steckman, a Wash100 Award winner, currently serves as president and chief business officer of defense technology company Anduril. "Matt has been at the center of the defense tech revolution, taking game-changing innovation from vision to scale," said Tara Murphy Dougherty, CEO of Air. "As Air accelerates to meet urgent readiness challenges and immense market demand, his unparalleled expertise as a successful operator in this space will be invaluable to the next phase of our growth." What is Steckman's professional background? Steckman has been at Anduril for over eight years. He has helped guide the company's strategic direction while working to maintain operational efficiency across its growing set of defense and security offerings. Before joining Anduril, Steckman was chief revenue officer at Zipline, which offers a drone delivery service focused on medical and blood product transport. He also spent time in leadership positions at Palantir, where he managed internal business operations and maintained relationships with some of the company's largest customers. "Real-time readiness is a critical challenge in national security today, and Air has built a category-defining platform to address it," said Steckman. U.S. Army extends its partnership with Air on NGC2 initiative. 30 June 2026 Air, the leader in Enterprise Readiness, today announced that the U.S. Army has extended its partnership with the company to continue supporting the service's Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) initiative with Air Enterprise Readiness, the AI-native system that closes the gap between what the frontline needs and what the national security enterprise can deliver. As part of this ongoing partnership, Air will directly participate in upcoming field exercises during the Army's Project Convergence Capstone 6 (PCC6) experiment at Fort Irwin, California this summer. Air has been a partner with Anduril on the NGC2 team since its inception. "This award underscores the Army's continued confidence in Air Enterprise Readiness, our AI-native platform, and its unique ability to accelerate warfighter readiness," said Tara Murphy Dougherty, CEO of Air. "By modernizing sustainment for NGC2, Air is collapsing the distance between the factory and the fight, ensuring needed supplies and materiel reach warfighters at the edge ahead of need." Air transforms battlefield activity into continuous demand signals and leverages its agentic AI architecture to provide predictive insight into inventory, combat power, and combat strength.
