Requirements
  • An ALA-accredited master's degree or a comparable graduate degree from a non-U.S. university, reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Demonstrated interest in engaging with and supporting the academic and personal development and success of early career undergraduate students.
  • Familiarity with information literacy as a concept and practice, including familiarity with the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education and other relevant professional documents.
  • Evidence of effective outreach and the development, delivery, and assessment of programming in collaboration with key stakeholder groups.
  • At least four years' experience providing instruction, mentoring, and/or programming for early career undergraduate students.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the educational habits and needs of early-career undergraduate students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with a diverse population and multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Commitment to librarianship, scholarship, and service required to meet university and University Libraries requirements for promotion and tenure.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead liaison to the Office of Student Life, Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry, First Year Experience, Second-Year Transformational Experience Program, Young Scholars Program, and other campus units as appropriate.
  • Maintain, oversee, and continuously improve existing programs and resources for first- and second-year students and other undergraduate students new to the campus, including transfer students and campus-change students.
  • Teach credit courses and co-curricular sessions offered by the Teaching and Learning Department.
  • Collaborate with Teaching and Learning colleagues in developing and enacting a strategy for integrating information literacy into the university's general education program.
  • Provide expertise to faculty and staff in the University Libraries on student learning and success in higher education.
  • Oversee the department's involvement in campus orientation events and library orientation experiences and participate as needed.
  • Maintain expertise and remain current on information literacy, undergraduate education, student learning, student success, and higher education student affairs.
  • Participate in Teaching and Learning department projects, including reporting departmental and Libraries' teaching and programming activities.
  • Serve on library-wide or university-wide committees and teams as an engaged member of the University Libraries faculty and the university faculty.
  • Maintain a course of personal professional development through active participation in professional associations or other professional activities external to the Libraries.
  • Act as supervisor for up to three staff members within the department.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in developing, delivering, and assessing information literacy instruction in both face-to-face and online environments.
  • Evidence of supervisory experience.
  • Experience creating instructional materials such as online tutorials and guides.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility issues and usability testing required to meet Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility standards.
  • Experience consulting with instructors and other academic support staff related to course and assignment design.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
