Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent and two years of experience in the program specialty, with equivalent education and/or experience accepted except where legally required credentials apply.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate ordering of durable medical equipment, adaptive equipment, oxygen, and supplies identified by therapists and providers before patient discharge, and facilitate equipment ordering for the Rehabilitation Department.
  • Coordinate documentation for patient and department equipment, including physician prescriptions, justification letters, progress notes, and purchase orders.
  • Coordinate insurance authorization for patient equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment delivery with the equipment supplier and delivery site.
  • Track patient equipment and adaptive devices through the authorization process.
  • Receive and organize equipment according to therapy department and UW Medical Center procedures.
  • Coordinate safety and maintenance of Rehabilitation Department equipment.
  • Provide clerical assistance with telephoning, faxing, copying, and paperwork coordination for equipment procurement and receipt.
  • Maintain communication with the UW Medical Center healthcare team about patient status and needs through the medical record and daily consultation.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field and/or experience in a rehabilitation field.
  • At least two years of experience in a health field, preferably in a rehabilitation environment and/or with durable medical equipment.
