- A high school diploma, GED, or relevant experience is required.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Safely transport patients to and from units, assist them on and off x-ray tables, and transfer them in and out of beds or wheelchairs.
- Maintain the integrity of indwelling catheters during transport and practice proper body mechanics.
- Promptly alert nursing personnel when a patient leaves or returns to the unit.
- Adapt communication and handling to meet the unique physical and age-related needs of every patient.
- Follow all hospital policies for safety, quality improvement, and infection control.
- One to two years of experience in an acute care facility is preferred.
