As a Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test, you will design and build the frameworks to test and deploy these complex systems. Our product suite spans from medical devices that a patient wears, to mobile apps, up to our back-end servers – so this is a challenging task, and one that requires very critical thinking to ensure the system performs well, and the data is correct.
We develop with some of the latest technologies across iOS, Android and Web, paired with continuous build and test with tools like Jenkins, Selenium and Appium. Our test engineering team is encouraged to drive new ways to improve automation, with the goal of highly scaled testing across numerous hardware and OS variations.

This position is onsite/hybrid, 3 days per week in Northridge, CA
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Design, implement, and optimize automation tools to verify the mobile and server product suite
- Work closely with software and test teams to ensure the system works properly from end-to-end, both pre and post-release
- Develop lab testing strategies and ensure lab automation works correctly
- Research and prototyping solutions
- Promote good software testing practices at every stage of development
- Lead external teams to help build automation tools, including selected vendors
- Champion processes and process improvement throughout the organization
- Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains standards for software systems quality operating methods, processes, and procedures.
- Conducts evaluation of software systems activities including requirements, design, development, documentation, integration, test, verification and validation.
- Have a hands on experience and deep understanding in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) testing.
- Defines appropriate measures to ensure product quality.
- Develops overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of the software quality program according to project, process and contract requirements and objectives.
- Ensures that projects and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or contracts.
- Reviews software systems design, change specifications, and plans against contractual and/or process requirements.
- Reviews include applicable specifications, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies.
- Provides or directs verification and validation of software system requirements, traceability, and testability.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field and 4+ years of experience
- Or, Advanced Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field and 2+ years of experience
Nice to Have
- Experience developing automated test tools for commercial software products
- MS in Computer Science or related technical discipline
- Experience coordinating with remote teams
- Experience working in a regulated industry
- Knowledge of test automation framework like Appium or Selenium
- Knowledge in one or more of the following software languages: C, Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, Objective-C
- Experience measuring and reporting quality-related metrics
- Critical thinking and change agility

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$98,400.00 - $147,600.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
