Requirements
  • Perform Microwave planning and design task in a highly complex microwave engineering and backhaul network
  • Guide and support vendor in planning, design, development and optimization efforts of a microwave network; including TDM and IP/MPLS backhaul network as per specified design rules and topology guidelines
  • Design and document statewide complex microwave links and topology for existing and new sites
  • Review line-of-sight studies, site visits as necessary, creating augments in state network working with field technicians and creating microwave RF distribution systems, configuration information, and bill of materials
  • PathLoss version 5.1, Link Planner and Google Earth experience is required
  • Microsoft Office tools experience including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, MySQL, Perl/Python
  • RF planning and dimensioning: routing and microwave path analysis based on diverse maps or terrain databases, radio path calculations and antenna sizing, frequency planning
  • Solid understanding in network topologies such as linear backbones, ring, mesh
  • Capacity/traffic planning of transport network backhaul such as SONET/SDH, T3/DS3, T1/DS1, DSOs and cutovers
  • Plan and build virtual routing and forwarding instances to migrate TDM traffic to IP/MPLS with knowledge of OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, MPLS, VRFs, VPNs, Tunnels (L2TP, L3TP), BGP, QoS (RFC 2544)
  • Ensure timing and synchronization across TDM and IP networks (IEEE 1588, RFC 1305)
  • Experience configuring and deploying Aviat Microwave Radios, routers, switches and firewalls in an MPLS network environment
  • Support Microwave IP transport systems critical data payloads used for RF signaling of Aviat and Motorola Radio and switch environments
  • Support and troubleshooting a mix of networking technologies including MPLS, VRF and BGP working within an ISP / Telecoms service provider environment
  • Work in cross functional environment with Vendors, PMO, Network Engineering and Regional Operations team
  • Architect and Design networks for new services, identify areas of improvement, and develop/implement acceptance-test plans
  • Determine network equipment needed to meet specified requirements
  • Complete and maintain network topology documents, design and diagrams in Google Drive share folder, network inventory is current
  • Embrace Agency’s goals and strategy in alignment with KPI’s and provide metrics.
  • OSS/NMS/EMS understanding on SNMP traffic aggregation between radio terminals and OEMs to Element Managers and NOC
  • Solid understanding on the alarms and should able to analyze radio interference, hardware, software problems and able to troubleshoot
  • Work closely with NOC and Field Technicians on 1st/2nd/3rd line troubleshooting in support of the customer on network faults and developing product turn-up processes
  • Ensure minimal downtime/outage with quick workarounds, troubleshooting, and correcting fault conditions
  • Respond to support calls and escalations of customer issues on a 24/7 basis as required
  • Script programs to automate configuration/provisioning of services
  • Design routines health tests that run diagnostic scans and report/notify of system alarms.
  • Provide training and mentoring to other team members
  • Develop and support procedures for ensuring network survivability and disaster recovery
  • Knowledge of AC and DC Power plant sizing and requirements
  • Create RFP/RFQ, review bids, amendments
  • Develop the training materials and able to conduct trainings to technicians, engineers and regional managers
  • Willing to learn and perform 10- 20% of task in IP/MPLS routing space
