Requirements
  • Completed secondary school.
  • A valid Ontario Class G driver's license, a personal vehicle, vehicle insurance, and a current satisfactory driver's abstract are required.
  • Ability to lift or move 9 to 12 kilograms (20 to 25 pounds).
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully, including an Abuse Registry check, and provide an original copy of the background check screening.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Suite products.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication, listening, multitasking, problem-solving, analytical, and confidentiality skills.
  • Ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work variable day, afternoon, evening, weekend, and split shifts, with scheduling flexibility as operational requirements change.
  • Ability and willingness to support the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.
  • Willingness to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to participate in mandatory orientation training and ongoing professional development.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with coordinating the London Christmas Kettle Campaign, focusing on kettle locations associated with the assigned hub.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, scheduling, and guiding kettle volunteers.
  • Ensure volunteers have the required training and certification for their specific roles.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites and volunteers, addressing conflicts and issues or referring them to the Kettle Coordinator or designate.
  • Refer media interview requests to the Executive Director.
  • Answer phones and respond to volunteer, donor, and kettle-site inquiries.
  • Support volunteers with navigating the kettle database, Salesforce.
  • Schedule kettle volunteers using Salesforce and respond to emergency absences, notifying the Coordinator of concerns related to vacant shifts.
  • Complete daily shift-reminder emails and phone calls and send regular email blasts about available shifts.
  • Assist with coordinating the daily delivery and pickup of kettles, ensuring the security of donations.
  • Keep kettle locations stocked with supplies such as literature.
  • Deliver and pick up kettles or supplies from sites when required and troubleshoot Tiptap machines.
  • Host at kettles as required to provide coverage for breaks.
  • Assist with counting and depositing donations when required.
  • Support other London Community Services Christmas programming, including the Santa Shuffle and Christmas Assistance Program, as needed.
  • Perform other position-related duties as required.
  • Wear appropriate Salvation Army identification and brand wear.
  • Treat Salvation Army property with due care and caution.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of prior related experience.
  • Previous volunteer supervisory experience.
  • Experience with Salesforce Volunteer Management Software.
