Requirements
  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field, or a four-year college degree, or a two-year college degree and at least 1 year of related experience.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Windows, company-approved spreadsheets, and word-processing software is required.
  • Ability to work long hours when required.
  • Ability to perform medium work, including occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds and frequently or constantly handling up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with employees and guests at all levels in an attentive, courteous, and service-oriented manner.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the Housekeeping Department operates in an attentive, friendly, efficient, and courteous manner while providing guests with quality service and a clean, safe environment.
  • Respond to guest requests, problems, complaints, and accidents, and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline Housekeeping personnel according to hotel standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with required training standards and effective training procedures.
  • Maintain scheduled cleaning programs and detailed checklists for each position.
  • Assist with maintaining and controlling Housekeeping equipment.
  • Assist with compliance with corporate risk-management standards, including material safety data sheet and Hazard Communication requirements.
  • Assist with monthly inventories of guest supplies and cleaning supplies.
  • Ensure large guestroom turns are managed efficiently.
  • Ensure departmental opening and closing procedures are followed consistently.
  • Carry a pager at all times.
  • Prepare and conduct Housekeeping interviews and follow hiring procedures.
  • Develop employee morale and ensure Housekeeping personnel are trained.
  • Inspect rooms daily, including inspections with supervisors.
  • Assist the Director of Housekeeping with inspecting VIP rooms before arrival.
  • Ensure public areas, guest rooms, and back-of-house areas meet hotel standards for cleanliness.
  • Maintain required par levels of Housekeeping and Laundry supplies by ordering supplies and amenities monthly or quarterly.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly Housekeeping inventories.
  • Ensure guest privacy and security procedures are followed.
  • Monitor work orders, submit them to Engineering, and follow up on completion.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings for room attendants and housemen.
  • Respond to emergencies using information in material safety data sheets and keep the sheets current and available.
  • Balance and clear room status nightly, compare housekeeping and property-management-system room-status reports, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with reviewing Housekeeping staff hours for payroll compilation and submit them to Accounting.
  • Assist with preparing employee schedules based on business forecasts, payroll budgets, and productivity requirements.
  • Maintain procedures for purchase orders, invoice vouchers, and checkbook accounting.
  • Maintain professional working relationships and open communication with managers, employees, and other departments.
  • Implement hotel policies and house rules and understand hospitality terminology.
  • Ensure Housekeeping staff sign off on service-standard competencies.
  • Operate pagers and radios professionally and ensure proper radio etiquette.
  • Manage and organize large-turn days, including group check-ins and check-outs.
  • Monitor out-of-order, out-of-service, discrepant, and show rooms.
  • Maintain constant communication with Guest Services.
  • Monitor and act on special requests, including VIPs, special-needs rooms, and connecting rooms.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and provide training on a rotational basis.
  • Maintain lost-and-found procedures and policies.
  • Maintain the key-control system for Housekeeping keys.
  • Focus the Housekeeping Department on contributing to guest-service scores.
  • Monitor VIPs, special guests, and special requests.
  • Review the Housekeeping logbook and Guest Request log daily.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized filing system for purchases, vouchers, schedules, forecasts, reports, and tracking logs.
  • Use telephone and computer systems to report and verify room status.
  • Record valet laundry for valet cleaners and check incoming laundry to ensure all items are returned.
  • Store, secure, and issue supplies as needed to meet business demands.
  • Ensure regular maintenance and cleaning projects are completed twice yearly.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties requested by management.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor.
