Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field and five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling nine years.
  • Knowledge of human resources laws, regulations, and practices, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Americans with Disabilities Act, Department of Labor, and Family and Medical Leave Act.
  • Ability to make recommendations that resolve problems consistently with applicable laws, policies, and practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all interactions and work products.
  • Ability to apply data management and analysis tools to research and analyze data.
  • Ability to interpret ambiguous issues and apply critical thinking to find solutions.
  • Ability to coach employees objectively through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing data using human resources metrics and providing recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and state and federal compliance regulations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, human resources information systems, applicant tracking systems, and performance management systems.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
Responsibilities
  • Directly support a client group and take on less complex employee relations cases under the direction of a Business Partner.
  • Coach managers and leaders on effective performance management.
  • Consult with and coach employees and managers on employee relations matters, including policy interpretation, job performance, and corrective action, while providing solution-oriented recommendations and support.
  • Administer People & Talent plans, projects, and procedures.
  • Assist in developing and implementing employee policies and procedures, and prepare and maintain the employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
  • Recommend approaches, policies, and procedures to improve department efficiency, services, and the employee experience.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and develop solutions for business issues and challenges.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Assist in evaluating department reports, decisions, and results against established goals.
  • Track and analyze inquiries and investigations with Business Partners and leadership, and recommend consistent practices and action plans.
  • Provide support to an assigned team of Business Partners.
  • Raise questions and concerns and recommend solutions for performance management issues to improve People & Talent processes.
  • Represent the Business Partner Team on project-based teams supporting the overall People & Talent strategy.
  • Facilitate onboarding support for new leaders by introducing university philosophy and culture.
  • Maintain human resource information system records and compile reports from the human capital management system.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with People & Talent subject matter experts to support the business.
  • Mentor People & Talent Specialists or People & Talent Generalists when assigned.
  • Travel up to 20% for company summits, conferences, company-location visits, and other business-related events.
Desired Qualifications
  • Spanish and English bilingual proficiency.
  • Human Resources experience supporting Information Technology organizations.
  • Human Resources certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR.
  • Previous experience working with client groups as a Generalist or Business Partner.
