Knauf Insulation launches carbon calculator.

Knauf Insulation launches carbon calculator. 11 June 2026 Knauf Insulation has launched a free, online embodied carbon calculator. In a single place, users can calculate the U-value of their chosen insulation - to reduce operational carbon - and the embodied carbon of the specified product. Diana Dzhambazova, regional sustainability manager at Knauf Insulation, said: "Regulation of embodied carbon is inevitable, but many specifiers are already being asked to calculate whole life carbon to meet client requirements, local authority expectations and emerging standards such as the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard. This calculator makes that process faster and simpler." Users can use the U-value calculator to determine the insulation required to meet target U-values on a project and generate an embodied carbon calculation for their chosen insulation. The tool can also be used as a standalone calculator. The calculator provides embodied carbon results by weight, area and total project size. Knauf Insulation's product range is assessed using the latest EN15804+A2 standard for EPDs, and the calculator links directly to the relevant EPDs to make it easier for users to verify and cross-reference the source data. Diana added: "Sustainability reporting must be rigorous, but it doesn't have to be complicated or time consuming. We're the first insulation manufacturer in the UK to launch a tool like this - our goal is to continue helping specifiers deliver more sustainable buildings."

Plans in for £180m knauf Insulation factory.

Plans in for £180m knauf Insulation factory. 30 April 2026 16:43 Julia Hatmaker Comments (0) The rock mineral wool manufacturer has firmed up its vision for a 200,000 sq ft production facility at Deeside Industrial Park, a project supported by the £1bn North Wales Growth Deal. Knauf Insulation's move to Flintshire would bring more than 137 direct jobs to work in its 22,500 sq ft office building, 50,100 sq ft melter, 93,800 sq ft processing plant, and the 63,300 sq ft of existing buildings being kept on the site. The buildings are all designed by AEW Architects, with the five-storey Melter being the tallest on the 44-acre campus. The project is estimated to cost £180m to deliver, with more than £14m coming from the North Wales Growth Deal. Landscape proposals across the site include meadows, grassland, and more trees being planted. The office block would have a green roof. As part of the designs, there would be 126 car parking spaces, including six accessible ones and 14 with EV charging points. There would also be at least 12 covered cycle storage bays. The project team includes project manager Core, planner WSP, landscape architect Tyler Grange, civil engineer Tier Consult, geotechnical engineer Tier Environmental, highways consultant Eddisons, fire engineer Hoare Lea, and LEED assessor Hilson Moran. Hannan Associates provided advice on M&E, utiltiies, and acoustics. To view the application, search FUL/000343/26 on Flintshire County Council's planning portal.
