  • A valid Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Knowledge of clinical nursing care procedures and protocols is required.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatments and interventions for patients.
  • Educate patients and potentially family members about the nature and status of the patient's condition, diet, associated medication or treatment side effects, and the importance of complying with medication schedules.
  • Ensure patient safety.
  • Coordinate referrals to services within and outside the immediate area or unit.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Function as a preceptor in accordance with University of Mississippi Medical Center guidelines.
  • Report patient issues or concerns to the supervisor as appropriate.
  • Serve on at least one nursing council, hospital or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or the work area.
  • Coordinate clinical-area operations, including patient scheduling, patient records, and the patient admissions process.
  • Counsel patients and family members regarding patient treatment and conditions.
  • Act as a liaison among case managers, home health nurses, utilization review, and related services.
  • Coordinate patient services and care.
