Job Summary:
The Optical-Mechanical Assembly Technician (OMAT) will build and align laser sub-assemblies across all product lines in production at our Bozeman facility. The position will work with engineering to create, test and modify production and rework processes and procedures. The role will also assist others in assembly methods, techniques, and production related problems. Some products may require performance of associated tasks in a Class 1000 Cleanroom environment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Assemble and align complex laser sub-assemblies while following all published work instructions and established safety practices.
Work with small precision optical components.
Work with microscopes and a wide range of small hand tools and electronic test equipment.
Operate all test equipment, instruments, and lasers needed during subassembly builds and alignment.
Use and setup beam lines and calibration of workstations to support active alignment assemblies.
Use cleaning chemicals and adhesives to clean optics to laser grade finish.
Produce production related documents of any kind – work instructions, spreadsheets, etc.
Responsible for the transfer of knowledge and imparting the highest work standards to be used in all stages of OMAT production within the Lasers department.
Help develop new product initial sub-assembly builds, techniques and processes.
As required, support the team with non-routine, indirect tasks that support the overall functioning and flow of the organization.
Job Qualifications:
Prior laser subassembly/assembly building experience a plus.
High School Diploma/GED is required.
Ability to follow detailed instructions while working with high voltage power supplies and lasers.
Meticulous attention to detail with a high level of concentration.
Excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.
Ability to consistently deliver high quality results and meet schedule requirements.
Computer skills including use of MS Office software and network navigation.
Ability to work well under minimal supervision and in a team/group environment.
