Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and three years business, personnel, grant-in-aid or public administration experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Science.
  • Two to three years of experience in grant management.
  • In-depth knowledge of NIH reporting, biosketches, publications, and grant types, as well as proficiency in navigating NIH Reporter.
  • Strong data entry, reporting, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage information for HCC members.
  • Experience using software programs to create surveys, Requests for Applications (RFAs), and databases.
  • Proficiency in Excel and critical thinking skills to drive quality improvement.
  • Highly organized, with exceptional communication and time management skills.
  • Computer literacy.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinates pre-award activities for HCC’s intramural funding programs (e.g., Idea Team Science, Mark Green Young Investigator, Entrepreneurial Sciences in Cancer, Bridge to Population Sciences, ACS Institutional Research Grant Awards).
  • Manages drafting and promotion of RFAs in collaboration with award leads and HCC’s Grants and Communications teams. This includes setting timelines for submission, review, and award, and communicating with external departments for pilot advertising.
  • Assists Principal Investigators (PIs) with application submissions, answering questions on requirements, and streamlining access to the InfoReady submission portal.
  • Organizes review committees, including inviting internal/external scientific reviewers and community advocates, creating review forms, coordinating meeting dates, and disseminating reviews.
  • Drafts and sends award notices after review sessions, ensuring communication with all relevant stakeholders (e.g., HCC Communications, HCC Finance, Post-Award Administrator).
  • Provides reports and insights on the number of applications received, funded, return on investment, and other key metrics.
  • Provides guidance to support HCC Members with multidisciplinary center grant proposals and training/career development awards, helping enhance research proposal competitiveness.
  • Coordinates with the Hollings Limited Submission Review Committee to identify opportunities, release calls, and select candidates for full applications.
  • Assists HCC Members with submissions for cancer-specific foundation grants, Cancer Center Support Grant supplements, and limited submission opportunities.
  • Develops timelines for deliverables, reviews funding opportunity announcements, and prepares documents such as Letters of Support, biosketches, and Other Support materials.
  • Compiles and submits applications through platforms like Cayuse SP, Cayuse424, ASSIST, Proposal Central, etc., while resolving any issues with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) and PIs prior to submission.
  • Researches and creates bi-monthly emails to HCC Members, summarizing intramural and external grant opportunities.
  • Assists HCC leadership, program leaders, and shared resource directors with presentations for CCSG-related meetings.
  • Works with the HCC Program Coordinator II and Grants Team to maintain a central database of member publications, grant funding, and shared resource usage. Serves as a backup for the Program Coordinator II.
  • Assists with preparing and submitting annual progress reports and grant renewals, including biosketch and Other Support creation, drafting Letters of Support, and compiling necessary data and metrics.
  • Manages the InfoReady Support Request portal and the Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) Highlight portal, tracking outcomes and communicating with leadership.
  • Supports additional Cancer Center projects as needed to further the Center’s mission and goals.
