  • Board design and layout of multilayer PCBs with EDA tools (e.g. Cadence Allegro)
  • Mechanical design with CAD tools (e.g. Solidworks)
  • General knowledge of applied electromagnetism and high-speed, mixed signal electrical systems (impedance matching, transmission lines, bandwidth and loss, etc.)
  • General knowledge of applied material properties (thermal and electrical conductivity, thermal expansion, etc.)
  • Experience with all parts of the design, procure, build, hands-on test and debug, and redesign stages of complex electronic systems or components
  • Willingness to engage with coworkers and colleagues with different expertise to understand applications, use cases and overall solution space
  • Ability and desire to work in a collaborative, team-based environment that combines engineering, computer science, and physics
  • Good scientific communication skills

  • Ability to span different fields of study
  • BA/BS + 5 years or Master’s degree + 3 years in electrical engineering, engineering physics or related field, or equivalent knowledge gained through industry experience
  • Must be able to climb ladders to use elevated test equipment
  • Must be able to work safely in a laboratory environment, and be on-site at least 4 days a week
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must have or be willing to apply for and maintain security clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Work with team members to understand the key problems limiting performance in a variety of laboratory applications
  • Quickly iterate through design, fabricate, and test cycles that involve electrical (primarily printed circuit boards) and mechanical (test fixtures, bracketry, etc) solutions
  • Responsible for moving components through the entire design, fabricate, and test cycles
  • Comfortable in a prototyping environment that optimizes progress and encourages fast-paced trial and error
