Job Description
MUSC Health is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic X-Ray Student to join our dynamic team. This position offers a valuable opportunity for an individual currently enrolled in an accredited radiography program to gain practical experience in a clinical setting. The X-Ray Student will work under the supervision of licensed radiologic technologists and medical professionals to perform a variety of radiographic procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Assist radiologic technologists in preparing patients for imaging procedures.
- Position patients accurately for X-ray examinations.
- Operate X-ray equipment under the guidance of licensed professionals.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures.
- Follow established protocols and procedures for obtaining high-quality images.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of imaging rooms and equipment.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide efficient and effective patient care.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and radiation protection measures.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in an accredited radiography program.
- Completion of relevant coursework in radiographic procedures and techniques.
- Basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Commitment to professionalism, ethical conduct, and patient confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move quickly between imaging rooms.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for positioning patients and operating equipment.
- Lift and move patients as needed with assistance from healthcare team members.
- Ability to work in a variety of physical positions, including bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Maintain focus and attention to detail during repetitive tasks.
- Follow proper body mechanics and safety protocols to prevent injury.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
- Adapt to changing environmental conditions and patient needs.
- Maintain physical stamina and endurance to perform duties throughout scheduled shifts.
Additional Job Description
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology
Work Experience: 5 years for support or 0-2 years for professionalMust be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 12 months. Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
