What believers are saying

  • 2026 studies showed lower air leaks and pancreatic fistulas versus comparator staplers.
  • The 2025 FDA SESE decision removes a major regulatory barrier for U.S. sales.

What critics are saying

  • Medtronic and Ethicon dominate stapling channels and pricing against Lexington’s commercial rollout.
  • AEON still lacks broad hospital penetration; surgeons can choose incumbents on availability and cost.
  • Failure to convert studies into contracts before 2027 turns Ampersand’s growth bet into a valuation trap.

What makes Lexington Medical unique

  • AEON cleared July 11, 2025; Lexington controls design and Massachusetts manufacturing.
  • Ampersand invested April 17, 2025, validating Lexington’s surgical stapling platform.
  • Clinical evidence spans 2,300+ patients across thoracic, bariatric, and gastrointestinal studies.
