Transportation Sustainability Consultant

ICF is seeking a Transportation Sustainability Consultant to lead and support projects related to transportation emission reduction planning, scenario modeling, decarbonization strategies, transportation electrification, and other alternative fuels in the transportation sector. Work may include analysis of strategies to reduce emissions from a variety of transportation sources, analysis of the costs and benefits of emission reduction strategies, development of policy and program recommendations to support sustainability programs and projects, research on industry trends, writing reports and developing presentations.
Existing knowledge of and experience working with transportation sector emission reduction and/or decarbonization programs is essential.
The successful candidate will also have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Effectiveness of strategies to reduce vehicle miles of travel.
- Incorporation of emission reduction and other sustainability objectives into long-range transportation plans
- Emissions analysis and scenario modeling
- Technology feasibility assessment
- Co-benefits of criteria pollutant and greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies
- Clean vehicles and fuels incentive programs
Key Responsibilities
- Leading or supporting analyses of strategies and scenarios to reduce transportation sector greenhouse gas and criteria pollutant emissions.
- Research and interpreting published research for use in planning studies.
- Developing recommendations for new or improved programs to support public transit, active transportation, shared use mobility, and other transportation demand management strategies.
- Developing and analyzing forecasts of zero emission vehicle sales and market penetration.
- Developing and analyzing forecasts of the use of conventional and alternative fuels in the transportation sector.
- Leading or supporting the development and deployment of communications, outreach, and training resources, including case studies, webinars, in-person events, presentations, and other opportunities.
- Interacting with clients.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Urban planning, Environmental studies, Energy, Public policy
- 2+ years’ work experience in Sustainable Transportation, outside of university work
- Foundational knowledge in transportation VMT reduction strategies and decarbonization.
- Transportation GHG Analysis and Forecasting
- EV Transition Planning experience
- Proficiency with statistical and analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in transportation, urban planning, environmental studies, energy, public policy, or a similar field.
- 3+ years’ work experience in sustainable transportation
- Advanced knowledge in transportation VMT reduction strategies and decarbonization.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$63,511.00 - $107,968.00Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
