Requirements
  • Nursing school graduate.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or holding a valid Nurse Licensure Compact multistate registered nurse license.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit or department.
Responsibilities
  • Administers bedside patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting under the supervision of a preceptor, leader, and/or charge nurse.
  • Assesses patients’ needs, develops and revises individualized plans of care, and evaluates progress toward expected outcomes.
  • Advocates for patients and their families and provides age-appropriate care.
  • Coordinates patient care for a defined group and delegates tasks appropriately to healthcare team members.
  • Documents patient assessments, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety activities in accordance with required and regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and the use of patient-care and unit equipment.
  • Prioritizes patient care in accordance with evidence-based practice standards of care.
  • Identifies and resolves problems, communicates patient-condition and unit information to healthcare team members, and collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Maintains awareness of legal issues and patients’ rights.
  • Collaborates with education and nursing leadership teams to transition and support new team members and students.
  • Maintains punctual attendance and compliance with Orlando Health policies and applicable federal, state, and local standards.
  • Contributes to others’ nursing knowledge and skills and continuously improves healthcare practice and organizational outcomes.
  • Participates in or leads unit-level and organizational committees focused on nursing practice and performance improvement.
  • Participates in peer review, mentoring, and coaching related to professional practice or role performance.
  • Maintains an efficient, clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Attends staff development in-services, department meetings, and nursing committee meetings.
  • Partners with nursing leadership to identify professional development needs and assumes responsibility for continuing education.
  • Actively participates in the Nurse Residency Program as appropriate to the role.

Florida cancer centre opens 31,000 sq ft St Petersburg facility with on-site imaging

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute has opened a new 31,000-square-foot facility at Orlando Health Institute Square in St. Petersburg, expanding cancer care access in Pinellas County. The location at 725 6th Ave South features 18 private exam rooms, 47 infusion chairs and on-site PET/CT imaging.
